Tomasz Grzywaczewski

Tomasz Grzywaczewski is a war journalist, documentary filmmaker, and author of non-fiction books with a focus on Central and Eastern Europe. Since February 2022, he has been serving as a correspondent for the Chief Evening News Service on the first channel of Polish Public TV, reporting from Ukraine’s frontline. He has also been reporting from various conflict zones since 2015 including war in Donbas, Turkish Kurdistan, and Nagorno Karabakh. Grzywaczewski has collaborated with various media outlets, including CBS News and Foreign Policy.

His recent documentary, "Erase the Nation", has been screened at international forums such as OSCE and UNESCO, as well as in cities worldwide e.g. Stockholm, New York, and Kuala Lumpur. He has also directed and written scripts for films “Belarus: Awakening” on the struggle of the Belarusian people against the dictatorship, "Lithuania: In the Shadow of the Tower" about the heroism of Lithuanian people, who restored their independence in 1990, and many others.

Grzywaczewski is the author of the awarded books: “The Erased Border” dedicated to the people who formed the multinational mosaic of the Second Polish Republic, “The Borders of Dreams”, devoted to the post-soviet unrecognized states, “Life and Death on the Dead Road” and “Across the Wild East” about extreme expeditions to Siberia.

Grzywaczewski is also an expert in transatlantic relationships and collaborates with various think tanks and research institutes. He completed the Russian Security Studies Certificate at the Daniel Morgan Graduate School of National Security in Washington, D.C., and has spoken at institutions such as Georgetown University and Atlantic Council in Washington, D.C., or The Explorers Club in New York City.
