Maleny Gabriela Reyes Conza is an Ecuadorian scholar holding a Master’s degree in Community Local Development Management from the Pontifical Catholic University of Quito, a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Management Engineering, and a Law degree from the Technical University of Loja. Currently, she is a Ph.D. candidate in the Social Sciences program at the University of Granada.

She serves as a Full-time Lecturer and Researcher at the Socio-Environmental Conflicts Observatory of the Technical University of Loja. Her expertise lies in research projects, international cooperation, and engagement on topics including socio-environmental conflicts, natural resource governance, environmental justice, water justice, and livelihoods in indigenous territories, as well as in small, medium, and large-scale mining contexts in the Southern Amazon of Ecuador.

Reyes Conza is actively involved in the REDD+ Working Group of the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Ecological Transition, as well as in the Ibero-American Environmental Network. She is an author and co-author of scientific articles and high-impact books.
